HITSA was a family-owned company that was established in 1984. Its founder, qualified blacksmith Svend Aage Bertelsen, began making products for urban spaces from a hen house in his back garden. Svend Aage quickly gained a reputation for high quality and excellent service.

Initially, Svend Aage took care of the entire business– manufacture, assembly, sales and administration– but as the business grew, his wife Inger and son Allan took on crucial roles, and it transformed into a family business. The company soon had to move to new premises to cope with demand.

In 2005, after several years of growth, HITSA became a public limited company. Son Allan and his sister Helle became shareholders. Svend Aage left the company eight years later at the age of 69 to enjoy a well-earned retirement.

Though many years have passed since HITSA started out with Svend Aage working in his hen house, the passion for high quality and excellent service remains a vital part of the company’s success.
